These are a few of the more utilitarian items. We chose jetboil stoves because we like having water boil quickly and we already owned them, so they were the cheapest for us. Seth's trekking poles are the most durable of light trekking poles to support that big boy up the trail. I liked how the handles felt on my trekking poles, which are also very light. Seth quit smoking cigarettes for the trail (!), but he continues to enjoy his pipe. We decided on doing the 4L Platypus for filtering water so we can filter lots of water quickly and have the option of hosing each other off if we're feeling particularly gross. We have the knives for protection, but really they'll mostly be used for good prep.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I insisted on a good break for lunch where I could air my feet out and let them rest. So the thing about pictures is we're trained to smile, which masks whatever might actually be happening. My feet hurt sooo badly in this picture and we were only half-way through the day. Now, I do think my misery is only thinly veiled because my smile isn't exactly ebullient.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We debated hiking into Kent, CT to get some town food again, but were weary of adding miles to town on top of trail miles, especially since we had been doing that the past few days. We were at the road debating when I told some NOBOs across the street about our dilemma and they let us know that someone left a bunch of trail magic at the trail head across the road from us! We ate donuts, sodies, chips, and a sub sandwich we had carried with us from Cornwall Bridge. We were happy. We do hope whoever left the trail magic was going to come retrieve it because leaving all that outside would be a super bear hazard!</image:caption>
